About damn time. THR reports that Warner Bros. has made the important decision to produce a Wonder Woman sequel. But it sort of sounds like these guys are patting themselves on the back for something that was pretty well established during the movie’s initial release: the movie deserved a sequel after its first weekend run. And it doesn’t hurt that it continues to beat expectations and set records:
Wonder Woman is holding better than any superhero film in more than 15 years at the North American box office. It has grossed more than $389 million at the domestic box office to date and passed Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 over the weekend.
At this point, Gal Gadot is the Tony Stark of the DCEU, and any subsequent films should revolve around Wonder Woman. With the uncertainty of Ben Affleck’s Batman in the DCEU, it would be wise for WB to make Gadot the focal point. And judging by the most recent Justice League trailer, it appears that they may already have.
