It appears as if no property is too out of reach for Hollywood. Whether it be books, toys, or emojis, Hollywood has a tendency to mine every creative endeavor in some way, shape, or form. And now it appears we might be seeing this play out with a podcast. Homecoming, the popular podcast featuring the voices of Catherine Keener, Oscar Isaac, and David Schwimmer, is getting the TV treatment. Per THR:
Julia Roberts’ TV projects may be expanding twofold.
Days after her limited series adaptation of Today Will Be Different landed at HBO comes word that the Oscar winner is in talks to headline the TV drama series Homecoming, executive produced by Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail.
Based on the fictional podcast of the same name, Homecoming is described as a political thriller centering on a caseworker at a secret government facility. Roberts would play the caseworker’s supervisor.
The podcast’s creators Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg will pen the adaptation. They will also exec produce with Mr. Robot’s Chad Hamilton of Anonymous Content, Alicia Van Couvering and Chris Giliberti, Alex Blumberg and Matt Lieber of Gimlet Media.
There is no network yet attached.
It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out, but I would love to see an adaptation of Welcome to Night Vale.
