Dave Chappelle is coming back to TV. Sort of. The reclusive comedian is returning to the sketch show format. Per Deadline:
Comic Dave Chappelle is set to make his Saturday Night Live debut as host of the November 12 show — the first one after Election Day. A Tribe Called Quest, which is releasing its first album since 1998 the day before, will be the musical guest on NBC’s late-night stalwart.
Chappelle is a veteran stand-up comic and actor who from 2003-2006 created and starred in the popular and influential Comedy Central sketch series Chappelle’s Show. He made his big-screen debut in Mel Brooks’ Robin Hood: Men In Tights and went on to co-write and star in the 1998 stoner classic Half-Baked. He also produced and starred in the Michel Gondry-helmed docu Dave Chappelle’s Block Party.
This is great news for Chappelle’s Show fans, and anyone looking for a much edgier SNL. Here’s hoping Chappelle’s appearance ups the ante.
