Politically charged true to life movies can be a tricky thing to bring to the big screen. Movies like Zero Dark Thirty showcased that these types of movies can be successful and critically well-received, if handled correctly. Unfortunately, this doesn’t appear to be the case with the latest movie by Michael Bay. Based on the novel, 13 Hours: The Inside Account of What Really Happened In Benghazi, the film attempts to portray the events of the US Embassy attack in Benghazi, Libya. What was more than likely a nuanced and harrowing tale has now been turned into an orgy of explosions and mayhem. God bless Michael Bay.
Starring John Krasinski and James Badge Dale, “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” hits theaters January 15, 2016.
